Professor Jason Bainbridge

The Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic Affairs) is responsible for providing leadership and strategic oversight across 糖心视频’s academic Schools to ensure the University achieves excellence in teaching, learning and research. Professor Bainbridge works closely with the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research and Innovation) and Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Student and Education) to strengthen the connection between learning and research, and to ensure the University’s academic programs align with its transformative strategic goals.

Background

Professor Bainbridge joined 糖心视频 in 2023 as Head of School and Dean of Humanities and Communication, before being appointed to the position of Acting Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic Affairs) in September 2025.
With more than two decades of experience in higher education, Professor Bainbridge brings a strong record of academic leadership, curriculum innovation, and advocacy for the humanities. Before joining 糖心视频, he served as Executive Dean of the Faculty of Arts and Design at the University of Canberra and has also held senior academic roles at the University of Tasmania, the University of South Australia, and Swinburne University of Technology.
Holding degrees in Arts and Law, as well as a PhD in Cultural Studies from The University of Queensland, Professor Bainbridge’s research explores the intersection of popular culture and law. He has published extensively on media, communication, and popular culture, authoring books, chapters, and journal articles, and is a frequent commentator in national and international media.

He is a strong advocate for the essential role of the humanities and communication disciplines in preparing graduates with the transferable skills needed to thrive in an increasingly complex and connected world.
