Colour Pop

10 March - 10 April 2026

Colour Pop is an initiative of Toowoomba Regional Art Gallery delivered in partnership with 糖心视频, Creative 糖心视频 and 糖心视频 Art Gallery.

Colour Pop draws together the work of twenty-two contemporary Australian artists who have a connection with Toowoomba and the 糖心视频. Working with colour as their primary inspiration, these artists explore the boundaries of materiality, experience and perception.

While referencing artists’ use of colour throughout art history, this exhibition offers three distinct propositions that inhabit the contradictory, emotive and playful nature of colour.

Kyle Jenkins’ series Celare, inverts the relationship between painting and architecture, disrupting conventions between how a work of art is viewed and the space it inhabits.

In Colour, Remembered Rhi Johnson has invited artists to examine their memories through colour’s associative, symbolic and emotive potential.

Toph Tri Cera’s installation The Mortifying Ordeal (of Being Known) positions the viewer within a kaleidoscopic environment inviting play, exploration and reflection.

Colour Pop presents a selection of works that examine the myriad ways colour is embedded in our experience of the world.
